Someone said that they were waiting for me to post on what happened in London last week...
It is so unfortunate what happened. As free societies, we leave ourselves open to these type of attacks because we can't just check people walking around our cities for bombs because we have civil liberties that we'd like to protect. Of course some crazy people are willing to give up their civil liberties in order to catch the terrorists because they are so gripped with fear, but not me. Of course I understand why we are checked before entering arenas and stadiums, but those aren't public places because you have to get tickets to get in. But if I had to be patted down everytime I entered a subway car I'd have a fucking fit.
Anyway, it makes me sick that conservatives (not all, but many of them) have said that there is a "good" side to these attacks in that Europe may now take the War on Terror a bit more seriously. If you watched Fox news on the day of the attacks, it was enough to make you sick. People are already calling it 7-7, a tribute to 9-11 to try to add another dimension to the War on Terror.
What I really HATE is that these conservatives are now saying that the London attack shows how the War in Iraq IS a part of the War on Terror and not a seperate war. BULLSHIT. No matter what they say to try to boost the popularity of our idiot President, the War in Iraq is still an overpriced distraction that is furthering the agendas of the few with the blood of the many. THERE WAS NO TERRORISM IN IRAQ BEFORE WE INVADED.
The whole "flypaper" philosophy that we attacked Iraq to take the war to them so we don't have to fight them here is pure insanity. Anybody who buys this shit is an idiot. The terrorists who flew planes into building 4 years ago were HERE. They didn't just visit, they didn't just sneak across the border, they were HERE. How in the fuck does attacking Iraq prevent the terrorists in this country from planning another attack? It doesn't.
What is MOST unfortunate is that WE are to blame for the attack in London last week. Yes, that's right. If we didn't invade Iraq, do you think London would have been attacked? Of course not. There'd be no reason to attack London if we didn't invade Iraq. Bombing the fuck out of Iraq will not eliminate terrorism. With every civilian that is killed by an American bomb, we are CREATING an anti-American terrorist. Think about it: if someone comes into your home saying they are going to protect you, but they accidentally shoot your father, wouldn't you hate the shit out of these people? If they never came, your father would be alive so what are they protecting you from? Your father being killed? it's ridiculous. And I feel bad for our troops because they are being manipulated. They are there for love of country and the President is shitting on them.
People are making tons of money on this War in Iraq. THAT'S what it is for, not for any of the bullshit reasons they give us. There are private contractors being paid to rebuild what we are destroying such as the water and sewer system, and the electricity. Why do we celebrate when we hear that we have restored electricity in Iraq? Why do people like Hannity and Rush celebrate this when it was us who took out the electricity to begin with? they are banking on the fact that most Americans think Iraq was just a hole in the sand and not an industrialized country, which is what it is and has been for many many years. They are trying to get us to cheer the fact that we are killing people and destroying their homes, e;lectricity, and water.
What REALLY sucks is that we are paying private contractors to scoop food to our soldiers. TO SCOOP THEIR FOOD! No wonder this fucking war is costing a fortune. The soldiers can scoop their own fucking food like they did in World War II, can't they? Or have they lost all food production abilities? Whatever happened to "KP" duty where they HAD to scoop their own food and clean the kitchens, etc. ? Why are we paying people when we can have it done for free? Who is making money from this? How did THAT company get the job of doing this? Because that company is Halliburton, Dick Cheney's company. You people have to wake up and think about this shit. How do we sit here and take this? We are so royally fucked, aren't we?
