I've know for a while about Hot Water Music's indefinite hiatus, but I learned today that as of May 13th 2006, Hot Water Music is no more. One of my favorite bands has dispersed. However, with every death there is birth and fortunately Chris Wollard, Jason Black, and George Rebelo have moved on and formed The Draft. Although The Draft essentially sounds like Hot Water Music, it really couldn't make me any happier to listen to their new stuff. I'm even more excited that they are touring with Alkaline Trio and the Lawrence Arms. This way I will get a first hand sample of what they have to offer.
In other news...
Dan is going insane, if he hasn't already. Aside from tomorrow night, Dan really doesn't get a break until June 11. I would really like to see everyone before I go home for the summer, but I really don't think that's going to happen and that makes me a little sad. I'm going to try my damnedest though.
Tomorrow is the Alkaline Trio show. I get to hang out with Brandon and take him with me to see one of my favorite bands. It will be his first time seeing them live, and I always love sharing stuff that means so much to me with my close friends.
I get to interview the Lawrence Arms, which is exciting, but at the same time, I'm a little nervous. Although I'm a fan of the band's music, I must admit, I don't know much about the band. So I've been doing some research and hopefully I won't walk in there and make a total ass of myself.
This weekend is Brandon's wedding. I'm really happy for Brandon and Betsy. I think it will be a good weekend. Doing the Best Man thing is a little overwhelming. Probably because I have some many other things to deal with including that. Homework, studying for finals, moving back home, and closing the residence halls is a pretty full plate. Still don't know what I'm going to say for the toast, but I figure even if it's a spur of the moment thing it will turn out well.
Twelve days and counting...
Vacation is coming up pretty quick. San Fransisco, Yosemite, Virginia City and Reno. It will be a much needed break. Then back to Target for the summer.
