[private to the Admiral]
What the hell kind of operation do you think you're running here? You're some kind of omnipotent superpower? You give the inmates bodies and decide who's worthy of working for you and who gets locked up? Great.
So shut up and let us get on with it. We're all imperfect here, we're going to make mistakes. Things like this riot are going to happen. The world is flawed because the people in it are flawed. So either you're just like us, some powerful but mortal thing playing with its toys, or you need to back off. If you're a higher being, you can't touch us, our world, our flaws without becoming flawed yourself. I know that. Because I've seen it. I've watched the mighty fall, I've seen gods walk among us and become us.
Stop interacting. Stop policing. You chose us to be your champions, to help the helpless and fight the good fight. Let us do our jobs, stop trying to do them for us.
Yes, we'll fail. We'll let bad things happen. People will probably die. But it's all part of being human.
And if you're not a genuine higher power? If you're really just something more powerful than us? Have the decency, the courtesy, the honesty to show your face once and a while.
[Warden Filter - yes, he just discovered the CES]
I... don't know how long it's been up there, but... we have Irish moors upstairs. Or, well, it seems to change, but.
That's not the point.
The point is that we're supposed to be rehabilitating these people, not getting revenge for whatever they did in life. If this was a prison, sure, have off-limits warden-only stuff. But it shouldn't be a prison. You draw these lines, between wardens and inmates, us and them, and that's how they'll see it.
I'm not saying we don't need security, I'm sure as hell not saying they aren't bad people. But things like that Environmental System thing, having the pub be off-limits, rubs their noses in the fact that we think we're more deserving. It casts them as villains. And if they see themselves as villains, it's all they'll ever be.
It's a fine line. One step too far and we'll lose sight of why we're here. We're not here to punish them for their wrongs. We're here to show them why what they've done is wrong.
[filtered to inmates]
Some of you are worse than others. Some of you probably deserve to be locked up in a real prison for the rest of your lives, some of you just deserve to be punched in the nose. Some of the wardens shouldn't be wardens, but most of us, frankly, are better than you.
Sorry guys, but I'm sick of playing nice.
We're not better because we've never done wrong, we're not better because of circumstances or the way we think. We're better because we made a choice, to help instead of hurt, to serve others instead of ourselves.
That doesn't mean I agree with the way this place is run, because I don't. But I'm just one man and I'm not in charge here. I can't make everything all better for you, and frankly I don't think it would be a good idea to give you absolutely everything you want.
I can promise you that wardens will be held accountable for their actions.
And I'm putting up a suggestion post, which only inmates and myself can see. You probably have no reason to trust me, but I promise I will read any suggestions or complaints and I will deal with them. Whatever else you may or may not deserve, you deserve a voice.
[ooc: OKAY. SO. There will be an Inmate Suggestion Box, much like Sam's Warden (and inmate) Suggestion Box, at the top of Angel's journal where inmates can post comments/suggestions/complaints. About anything and EVERYTHING.
Everyone can troll him all at once! Or actually suggest stuff. Or just ignore him.
After Ethan pointed out that Sam already had a suggestion box, Angel decided he was being a bit of a douche and took it down.
Also, West just pissed him off more, so the strikes are gone.]
