Writer's Block: Meant to Be?
The idea of fate makes me angry. It's depressing and lazy. There would be no such thing as inspiration, no spontanity, no choice if fate existed.
I believe in freewill. Nobody decided ahead of time that I would or wouldn't do my homework today - not God, not the stars and astrology bull. I get to choose whether I do my chemistry problems, or whether I lie about it and say that I did. Or I could tell the truth and say that I don't want to do them, but then I'd get forced to do my work. But I have options.
Fate is crap. It's an excuse, it's something people say when they can't understand reality. Life rests on choices and probability. Your aunt didn't die of skin cancer because it was "her time to go," she died maybe because she tanned too much, or just because she was unlucky enough to get cancer.
