Edit-FOUND: "Key to the Treasure(Liza,Bill, and Jed Mysteries)" by Peggy Parish.

I used to read lots of mystery books for kids back in the 90's, like the Boxcar children series, the New Bobbsey Twins (lame, i know), etc.

I remember reading one childrens book in the 90's but possibly published in the 80's. The only things i remember about it is a girl goes to sleep thinking about a clue she found that day. I think it had something to do with a message written in numbers and she finally realizes that it corresponds with the alphabet (ex: 1=A,2=B,3=C and so on), and is able to decipher it.

I believe there were several children as the main characters, all siblings. An odd thing I also remember is that later in the book the kids are with their grandparents and they're kind've tearing up over a story they've been told about something.

The more I'm writing, the more I'm remembering.. I think the kid's have a little black dog named Jellybean.

This book might actually be a New Bobbsey Twin book, but I feel like this was from a book series that only had about 5 books in the entire series (as opposed to dozens).

So my details might all be from the same book or perhaps I'm mixing several different ones up.

Amazon doesn't help since a lot of those older books don't have story descriptions, but anything ring a bell?
