after lots of back-and-forthing, soul-searching, and head-scratching i have decided to transfer out to santa cruz sometime this may/june. from there, i will thaw out, work my ass off, have tons of fun, eat amazing vegan food, splash around with ocean-y animals, and study for the GRE. i have always wanted to live in california, it's a promise i made to myself about 5 years ago. then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, university of texas at austin rose to the top of my grad school list and i am worried that if i end up going there, i might not ever make california happen. so i am getting shit done and going now. after grad school, i have a lot of work to do. and besides, my 2nd and 3rd grad school choices are in CA, so i will have a jump start on state residency for tuition. i feel really great about this decision...over the past year or so, i have started tons of projects and only finished a handful of them. i'm getting lazy and need a huge change of scenery. i've lived in massachusetts for almost 20 years, it's all i've known, and it is unlike myself to choose a path just because it is easy. 2k8 is all about challenges.
