[The device is sitting on a table behind Buffy. When it comes on, it shows Buffy standing in front of a mirror. She runs a brush through her hair then her fingers before she looks up into the mirror. She startles at seeing her reflection, but doesn't scream then takes a step back. Hovering there above (or perhaps beneath) her reflection is a ghost ( Read more... )

No breaking mirrors! You know how much bad luck we already have without the breaking of mirrors? We don't need any help with the bad luck, okay? No. Just no. Okay? No more bad luck.

It's possible looking in one today is going to break it.

Like -- break all by itself without your smashing it? That's creepy -- and probably triple or quadruple the bad luck -- which is bad. Breaking mirrors is bad, like walking under a ladder bad.

Point. also...not sure if I believe in the walking under the ladder stuff. Our lives are sorta bad luck-ing even without it. What if it's karma and the Karma God is a vampire. We're sorta screwed.

Okay but this is the thing. We know how bad luck-ing our lives are normally. The whole mirror or ladder thing or opening the umbrella indoors thing or all those bad luck things, if we do them, imagine how bad they would be then. So you would take our normal crappy luck only multiply it by a gazillion which -- please no. Do everything you can not to break the mirror Buffy. Between all of Aya's sickness and injuries and all the badness lately we need no more bad luck. Just say no -- only not to drugs but to breaking mirrors, Buffy. Just say no!

Okay. Saying no. I'll probably head outside and do things without mirrors.

Good plan. Do non-mirror things like skipping rope or hopscotch. Oh! Wanna pretend we're twelve and do some hopscotch? I have chalk!

Also, just say no to drugs too, not just to breaking mirrors.

We could do hopscotch. I'm officially 'better things to do' free for the day.

No to drugs. They're pretty much a non-hit with me.

They make me all loopy -- the drugs -- not that I've done them -- more than once.

[And here comes Dawn out to the sidewalk with a bucket of multicolored chalk. Her hair is back in a ponytail and she has an over-sized sweater on. She gets to her knees and takes the lid off of the bucket and begins to draw squares on the sidewalk.]

We haven't played this in forever. You have to give me a chance to win though cause you always win with your whole graceful hopping thing.

There was drug doing? Did I miss this?

[Buffy is waiting outside in an outfit very much like Dawn's. Her feet are still bare.]

All chances given. You can blindfold me if you want.

I was in college for a semester, hello~. Don't worry, it was tame. I just got really giggly and way to interested in popcorn.

[She continues working on the hop scotch board.]

And never, ever wanted to do it again, right?

[Lie if necessary, Dawn.]

[She sits up on her knees, pausing in her hopscotch board long enough to draw an 'X' over her chest and hold up her right hand.] Cross my heart and hope to die.

[Of course, then she wrinkles her nose and resumes her drawing and numbering.] Why did I just say that? I told myself I was gonna quit saying it because it's so depressing. I mean who hopes to die? And think of what comes after that. Sticking a needle in you eye? Ouch. Right? It's all kinds of morbid and depressing sounding. Not to mention painful. Whoever came up with that phrase was definitely a masochist and not the fun kind.

I think it's kind of a 'I'd rather die and stick a needle in my eye than break my promise' sort of things.

[Buffy picks up a piece of sidewalk chalk and starts drawing while Dawn is doing the hopscotch board.]

[Dawn still shakes her head as she draws.] I officially ban us from ever using that phrase again. It just feels like we're tempting fate like with the whole mirror breakage thing.

I'm okay with this banning. It's a creeptastic saying anyway.

[She's drawing stick figures.] Angel was here during visitors weekend.
