[Ken arrived a little late thanks to finishing up a patrol, but thankfully, he was a good boy and changed before he headed over to to the party. A small bouquet of white jasmine in his hand, he slipped into the room and glanced around.]

[So surprised to see Ken at the party with his being as busy as she knew he was, Dawn bounds over to him the minute she sees him. She gives him a hug whether he likes it or not. What? She's excited.]

Ken! I'm so glad you came. Aya's here too and he's gonna be so glad to see you too. You two can have BFF time -- only manlier and with chocolate cake.

[He returns the hug without hesitation. Hey, he likes hugs! As soon as he pulls away, he hands over the little bouquet before he absently scratches at a spot on his arm.]

I see Aya all the time. I'm sure he's sick of me by now, buuuut, I can't turn down cake. I'm still a growing boy!

Oh but here you get to see him relax and be all regular joe-shmoe -- only Aya -- shmo. [She shrugs off the failed joke with a shake of her head and a dismissive wave of her hand.] Okay that was funnier in my brain before it came out of my mouth.

[As she takes the bouquet from Ken, she's smiling broadly.] Did Aya tell you I like flowers? Cause this is so -- thank you, Ken.

Hey, that's okay. It happens to me all the time.

[He didn't need Aya to tell him that Dawn likes flowers. Most girls do, but Ken's still as socially awkward as Aya, just in a different way. Flwoers are a way he can express what he's thinking, and white Jasmines just seem to be the ideal flower for what he thinks of Dawn.]

Jasmine. It means 'amicable friendship'. I still remember a few things from my old florist days. I still dig in the dirt at the Koneko when I have the chance, but it's not as often as I'd like at times.

[Dawn considers that for a moment before nodding her agreement.] Amicable friendship. I like it. Hey, you don't work at the flower shop with Aya, do you? Like in the spare time from the police station?

Shrugging, Ken glances down.]

I do when I can, but I really don't have a lot of time now. I kinda miss it, but don't you dare tell Aya that.

Your secret is safe with me. [She makes an 'X' shape over her chest.] Cross my heart and hope to die -- only minus the dying part. [And leave it to Dawn to switch conversation topics like she switches shoes.] So if I'm nineteen here and I'm eighteen back home when I left am I still eighteen there or nineteen?

[Oh, he's used to topic changes like that. Working with people that do it to him would make anyone used to it.]

I'm pretty sure you'd be nineteen. You'd just go back to eighteen when you got back home.

Huh. [She links her arm with Ken's and they start walking toward the kitchen where of course, there's chocolate cake.] I'm not sure I like the idea of going backwards.

[Aya sees Ken and heads over to him. It's good to see him here.]

[He shoots a warm smile at his best friend.]

Like I would miss a chance to see you acting like a normal guy for once.

[Aya lifts a brow in his direction.]

I don't think I'm quite that bad.
