[The communicator turns on accidentally, giving viewers a shot of the inside of something's mouth. Sharp teeth, a flat tongue. After a long moment, the communicator tumbles to the ground, and a paw nudges at it. It rolls over, but doesn't turn off again. The image it reveals now is a well-muscled spotted hyena, slender and healthy, with a good coat. A good specimen, as hyenas go. Standing out on the deck.

She noses at the communicator and it spins slightly; there's a series of yelps - that unmistakable laughing-type noise that hyenas make. She's annoyed. Animals might understand her, but she's lost her grasp of English:]

I think Amanda was on to something with the comment about opposable thumbs.

[She drops down beside the communicator; off to the side, she can be seen resting her muzzle on her forepaws. After a moment, she flops onto her side.]
