Yeah, so, there's this awesome, twilight mega-contest* starting up soon, over at
twilightbigbang . Get all the details there. Links are on the sidebar, to the rules, FAQ, etc.
I signed up as an author/artist for the challenge. The goal is to write 20,000 words by July 31, 2009. I shouldn't have a problem with that, so long as i actually write for it. I managed over 10,000 words in two weeks, so having three months to do it should be cake! I just hope that, if I'm motivated enough to go through with this, I can finish the fic by the timeline. I know it'll be way over 20,000 words, but I need to decide where I'm stopping and how to get there. i already have a rough idea for my fic. (or two ideas, rather. I have two fics in mind. If I can't get started with one of them, I'll do the other. Yay for back-up plans!)
So, my focus is Carlisle. but if that doesn't work out, I'm going to do something Jasper/Alice-centric, which I really want to do, anyway. But I already told
oddestoneout I'd be parallel-ing with her, as she's planning to write an Esme-centric fic. So, we'll see how it goes. I hope for the best!
In other news, I finished Avatars: the kingdom of twilight -- and loved it! I'm glad there was some Tigre/Kali bits in there, since they're both my favorite characters and my favorite couple, though not officially a couple, really. I also finished MAX, which was pretty awesome, surprisingly; as I hated the fourth one. So now my reading/to-read list has shrank (yes, shrank) to:
Fallen Angel by Margaret and Lizz Weis
Map of the Unknown World by Lisa Ann Sandell
Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman
Circle of Stone by A. J. Lake
Birth of a Warrior by Michael Ford
Glass Houses (Morganville Vampires) by Rachel Caine
Foreshadowing by Matcus Sedgwick
Pendragon (book one) by D. J. MacHale
Hands of Flame by C.E. Murphy
The Seer: the Last Dance by Linda Joy Singleton
Servent of the Bones by Anne Rice
...among other things. (Yes, I have no life).
I guess that's it for now.
Ah, on the subject of school: Spring Break is over for us now, unfortunately, and I went back to a ton of work. AP exams are coming up real fast, so we're going on overdrive to study for those, I have an English research paper (that I'd really rather just forget about) due Monday, two chapter outlines for history (also due Monday), with upcoming online history homework, outlines AND EXAMS, all this coming week. Fun times. Also, my brother's birthday is on Thursday (April 23rd) -- he's turning eighteen. Wow, I can't really see that happening, but okay. It's also Shakespeare's birthday, too, which is significant because a) I'm in the Shakespeare Club at school, b) We have to decorate a showcase for the occasion, and c) because Shakespeare is my home-skillet.
But anyway. I should go now, because Blondie has been badgering me to post ALL DAY.** And I actually agree with her**** because tomorrow is my self-proclaimed "work day" (as in, "the day I chose to do my work because any later date is unavailable and/or the deadline for which the things I am trying to avoid are due in the first place", only shorter and easier to say.) meaning I won't have any time for fun, leisurely things. Which sucks. So I need to post for James, Jasper, Carlisle, Daemon AND Max. (I'll post for Ig after someone else responds, because Agni + six posts in one day = EXPLOSIONIMPLOSIONANDOVERALLVERYBADTHINGS.)
Also, THEY ANNOUNCED THE NEW MOON CAST, ZOMG.
I think they're amazing. Michael Sheen for Aro is awesome. Already love Jamie Campbell Bower. I don't really know the others, but I'm hoping they'll look good and do a good job. -crosses fingers-
Posting time!
* Actually, it's not really a 'contest', since there are no winners. Everyone who completes the challenge is put into their masterlist at the end. It's like a giant challenge. That's a good word for it.
** and by "all day", I mean, of course: all week, and/or ever since I last posted and she posted after me and is awaiting a reply. Of course.
*** also, these asterisks remind me to mention something: first of all, that the word "asterisk" is very, very amusing to say, and second, I BOUGHT GOOD OMENS TODAY. -cheers for self-
**** OH NO, APOCALYPSE. LET'S GO FIND CROWLEY AND AZIRAPHALE.
