*Laertes hasn't had a good act of social dissidence in a while--so, to his Danish acquaintances, the fact that he has plastered the mall with leaflets of Dadaist poetry may be slightly shocking. he is currently sitting in the coffeeshop, wearing a black t-shirt that reads, "DADA is our intensity: it erects inconsequential bayonets ( Read more... )

*a small smile, and a salute with his cup* Do you like the poetry?

(also--in the realm of red-haired women, we have her, her, and her. which do you like? also also, this picture made me think of Forti and Ophelia on a date.)

Is that what it is? *peers at one of the leaflets*

(Oo, thanks! I like the first one best, though I think I'll look for something less smiley... girl!Forti is apparently very bitter, because her uncle's using her gender as an excuse to keep the throne. And whyyyy are there no French or Norwegian female names that mean "strong" or "strength?" :( The best I've found is "Solveig," but she's a character from Peer Gynt and I don't think I should allude to something I haven't read. :P And aaaaw, that last picture is so Forti/Ophelia!)

*laughs* There are those who would contest it--

(I'll look for that; I had previously been looking for slightly smirky pics, so now I've got to change my approach. *salutes* How about Astrid? That apparently means 'God's strength' or 'divine strength'--)

Are there? Why would they do that?

(Now that I've figured out where to look (took me long enough *facepalm*), I've found a few possibilities... "Astrid" just makes me think of Pippi Longstocking. *g* Where are you looking for names?)

They believe that poetry should have some sort of logical structure. *amused* Or, for that matter, a readily appreciable meaning.

(cool! ... this is the part where I stop suggesting you stuff. XD I've been using baby name sites.)

But there's lots of poetry that doesn't have meaning!

(Me too... I guess I've been using the wrong ones. *g*)

*laughs* I think I like you--and agree with you entirely. *gestures at a wall* Feel free to read; that's why I put it there, after all.

(Maybe if you searched for a name meaning first and then looked at the ethnicities of the names that are listed with that meaning?)

*beams, then reads the closest poem, which happens to be this* I say! It's almost like magnetic poetry, isn't it?

(That's what I was doing, mostly - I'll do some more searching.)

*chuckles--from the description, knows which one he has read* All poetry is, in a sense. Just thrusting a hand into the bag of human vocabulary and withdrawing an arbitrary set, arranged to create meaning. On the other hand, though, I feel there's more intentionality in the arrangement than Tzara would have us believe.

*smiles--why had he ever been disinclined to like Rosencrantz?* Do you read much Dadaist poetry?

*because his AU self was intruding? ;)* Oh, no... this is the first time I've read any, I think.

*his AU-self is based on his pre-Rey self in canon, which was the self that had disliked Rosencrantz, so that's partially true!* *gestures around them* I've tried to include a variety. Help yourself. Tear some down to keep if you enjoy it.

*beams* That's awfully kind of you! *goes around reading poems, then! are there any in particular that he'd like?*

(Having done some more name searching, I'm considering making girl!Forti "Louise" or "Mathilde." Opinions? And for her icon, I'm thinking this.)

*this is one of his more gentle ones ... Tzara's poems are slightly violent for Ros. even the ones with tropical fish have their backs carved out. ^_^;;*

(Both good names! And a very good picture. Just let me know what you decide, so that I can get to work once the schoolwork's done!)
