Spring is here...

So this weekend was the youth group's annual (except for last year I guess) spring retreat at Michiana Christian Service Camp: Vernal Asylum. Cool name, I think. And I was put in charge of organizing the worship for the weekend. Well, I'm not sure how well "organized" it was but Staniel and Ashley managed to deal with my chaotic, unpredictable, and unplanned speeds, chord changes, key, singing octave, and occasional not singing in order to make sure I hit the chord at the right time. Also, we all had to deal with the fact that the sound system we used at the camp did not come equipped with monitors and the speakers were ten feet in front of us so what we were hearing was a few seconds behind what we were actually playing. Needless to say it was a little rough to start but God worked through the situation and I don't think the kids or the other sponsors noticed as much as the three of us did. And I was able to get into a groove a couple of times and kind of forget about leading and just worship. That was nice. Aside from that the activities were fun and I got to know a lot of the kids better. And I got to meet Ted the maintenance/grounds keeper dude (he says hi Trav), and got to see Andrew, a guy that (as I found out) used to go to Kettering, but has decided to go into camps ministry and is working at the camp now and thinking about going back to school. So that was kind of cool. He also went to the church I started going to my last term (when I was actually in Flint for the weekend).

Overall the weekend was enjoyable and I think the kids all grew from it as well as the adults.

Sunday after we got back, Ashley, Lisa and I went to see Failure to Launch, which was pretty good. I think I would recommend waiting for it to come out on video. It was a decent movie, but not really EXACTLY what I expected.

Also, for those of you eagerly anticipating the next SWEET song by Duke Fox, I found a passage in the bible that kind of relates to it and it helped me write another stanza today at lunch. But its not ready to eat yet.
