Do you know what really fucking blows? Working for a company for almost 30 years that is one of GM's largest suppliers and being so close to retirement then finding out that they'll probably be declaring bankruptcy in a week or so. It's like a fucking blow to the gut for me so I can hardly imagine how my mom feels. To add some icing to the cake, my dad probably won't be getting all of his pension and they'll probably lose their healthcare.
I know companies go bankrupt and their employees get shafted and it happens all the time, blah blah blah... but it's not supposed to happen to you.
This just adds to the sour taste the automotive industry has left in my mouth since I learned that a strike was not just an awesome extended vacation for my parents and that i wasn't supposed to be excited about it.
I will never work in the automotive industry for any amount of money unless I am living on the street being forced to whore myself out for my supper.
This is America, the land of wealth and prosperity where a Tier 1 supplier for one of the Big Three should not be going bankrupt.
Let's just send some more work overseas for cheap labor so that we can boost their economy, eventually turning them into a competitor that can produce faster, smarter and even cheaper yet. Sounds like a sweet idea until we manage to fuck ourselves over.
