[ For a minute after waking up outside, Hijikata strongly suspected he was still asleep. That minute was spent staring blankly at the surface of the southern lake trying to figure out exactly why he was dreaming about it. It wasn't anything he remembered, nothing significant at all. The whole thing was threaded with a pounding, dull ache that was just enough to make it difficult to concentrate properly. Annoying.
