[Today, Sayo feels sporatic. It happens, honest! Even if it's not... very often...
But at least it happens! Today she's wearing a dress Buffy had given her-a lovely
sundress. And even though it's been raining off and on today, it's the warm, welcoming kind that make wearing such an outfit easy and breezy. Fortunately she remembers what rain is today

So he opens the door. He isn't smiling, but he doesn't look cross either. He raises a hand to touch the brim of his hat, a habit that will take a long, long time to go away.
He tries very, very hard not to stare at her clothes. He's getting used to such things (very slowly), but it still catches the eye. And he knows it damn well shouldn't. He clears his throat, inwardly admonishing himself.]
Good afternoon, ma'am. [Even if it's just barely past noon.] May I help you?

Are you Horatio?
[Come on, lad, don't take too long to figure this out; the gift bag is right there. Even if gift bags weren't much for giving people gifts in either of their times.]

[He's not really thinking about Archie's announcement over the journals. He's sort of trying to forget it, actually, and assuming no one else would pay attention to it.
But Horatio does step back, bowing slightly at the waist and gesturing.]
Please, come in.

Archie-san told me it was your birthday today, so--
[She turns on her heel, holding up the bag.]
I thought I'd get you a gift, for such an occasion.

[He is genuinely surprised. Horatio does think to take the bag from her, though.]
Thank you. That's very kind of you, ma'am.

It's really something else--I think you'll like it a lot!
[Seriously, she figured it was luceti magic powering that thing.]
Archie-san gave me some ideas of what you'd prefer.

...A boat.
One he cannot name all the parts of-- strange, strange parts that he decides he must ask questions about later-- but a boat. A very small boat.
He chuckles softly, a hint of a smile on his features. Which, really, is quite remarkable by itself.
He hasn't yet seen the remote also in the bag. Even if he had, he'd have no idea what it was.]
This is remarkable. Thank you. Very much.

Oh, that's not even what's remarkable about it, Horatio-san!
[While he's preoccupied with the boat itself, she brings out the remote control from the bag, smiling.]
You can make the boat move by itself in water. By using this, here!

If he can make with wings and Archie can be alive... a little black box can make a boat move in water.
He doesn't set the boat down, but he tilts his head to try and get a better look at the thing in her hand. Buttons and levers. There must be some organization to it, he's sure.]

[And you can tell by her expression she has no idea how that works.]
But it's true! You can make it turn in the water, even if you're very far away on the shore!
I wonder if some people have people-sized boats like this in their worlds...

[But he dismisses the idea. There are many things differently defined here, he's found.
He smiles, equally perplexed.]
If they do, I should be curious to learn about them. I've never seen anything of this nature before. The only boats I've ever seen have sails. Or oars.
Do you... [a gesture toward the black box she's holding] have some idea how to use it? Could you show me?
[The beach isn't far. The other lake is-- he's not keen to go back to the one closest the house-- but it's an option as well.]

But oh! That sounds like a wonderful idea!
[Admittedly, she's wanted to make a point of visiting the lake or beach--she can't really... remember if she ever visited either.]
It's very easy to use, so you'd get the hang of it in no time.
[ADVENTURE TIME!]
