Holy spam there is so much snow. There hasn't been this much snow in my state since I was in kidergarden. Holy cow. Big powdery blanket of soft coldness.

...In other news, Professor Layton is a fun game and The Secret of Kells is a very pretty movie. Also I have the Pheonix Wright Artbook yesssss. It's sadly lacking in delicious concept art

Movies like this remind me how we need more imported European animation and comics. American and Japanese stuff is not enough! We need imports from our brothers across the pond as well as across the lake, so that we may have a glorious Japan-America-Europe Axis of Awesome and Glorious Cartoonage.

He directed the Triplets of Belleville, which won best foreign picture a while back. His new film is called the Illusionist. French, naturally. Persepolis was another great French film, by Marjane Satrapi.

Can you tell me what ToB and The Illusionist are about?

I've read Persepolis' graphic novel (at least the first part; mom, despite being open minded in all other apsects, is a prude and won't let me read the second volume because sexually promiscious french young adults oh noes), but I haven't seen the movie.

I haven't seen the Illusionist yet, so I can't speak for it... But the Triplets of Belleville was amazing! It's about a bicyclist in the Tour de France being kidnapped by the mafia and his AWESOMELY BADASS GRANDMA who recruits a trio of washed-up lounge singers to rescue him. Yes.

The film is amazing, I can't recommend it highly enough. There's no sex in the film, either. Make sure to watch it in French with subtitles, though! The English dub is kind of...lacking.

That sounds...ridiculously awesome.

Ahaha one of those dubs, huh? How bad are the voice actors in the dub?

Well, the voices are fine. But French animation is way more detailed than anime, so lip-syncing is pretty much impossible.

Ah, that make sense.
