GLEE Request List...

I hardly ever post on my on journal....I'm more of a 'comment on other peoples' journals' kind of girl...but I'm just a bit bored today and started randomly thinking about what songs I'd love to hear covered on Glee next season.

I must admit that I'm partial to their renditions of classic rock and broadway numbers--when they do songs that are too current, it just feels like karaoke...granted, very good karaoke, but karaoke, nonetheless. I also tend to prefer songs that involve the whole group as opposed to one or two characters. It makes the musical team from the show change things up from the original more, and lets the singers get into harmonizing and playing off each other.

Anyway, I came up with 5 songs I'd really love to see tackled.

1) Tonight, Tonight by the Smashing Pumpkins--- Alright. I know this sounds like an odd choice, but I think it could be awesome. I wouldn't want to have Finn to do a Billy Corgin impression, though. Having someone with a softer, breathier voice to do the more sparse verses with the choir behind them would good--maybe Tina or Quinn. And then the whole group could really take over for the chorus. There could really be layering of voices there and a chance for the belters to do their thing.

2) For The Longest Time by Billy Joel-- Billy Joel songs are just written for show choir. The du-wop, the range of keys, the harmony...The fact that this song talks of singing and music is just an added bonus. I'd love to see the guys do this one as a group, with Will maybe in the lead? Or the guys taking turns on lead.

3) Think by Aretha Franklin--There's already a background choir on this track, but I think their presence could be increased and Mercedes would kill this on lead. It would be awesome. I think the music team could really take it and alter it to be a perfect team number.

4) Lady Marmalade-- I know it's been done before, but think of how fun it would be to see the girls all dressed and kicking this song in the ass. I'd picture Mercedes, Rachel, Quinn and Santana in the roles.

5) I Want You Back by the Jackson Five-- This would be such a fun number for the guys to do together. And it would be perfect for when one of them wants one of the girls back.

6) Take A Chance on Me by Abba-- I know what you're thinking: Abba?!? But, really. It's just a fun song, with tons of harmony. It would be cheesy, but in a good way.
Okay, I lied. That was six....and I'm already thinking of more. Hmm...maybe some Foreigner?

If you guys have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. And then if they actually DO any of these songs, we can feel all smug and all-knowing. ;-)
