Small warning: my whole entry is about Sawyer. Or something related to him, anyway. I know it's a bit crazy, but it was easier to finish this having an overall subject/theme in mind, especially since I picked my favorite Lost character.

Gloomy choice is gloomy. I love this song, and it makes me think about the losses and loneliness Sawyer experienced. The death of his parents, the death of Juliet. He spent the whole of season six with one goal in mind - leave the island, and go back home. But what exactly is "home" when the people who cared the most about you are gone? He still has Miles, Kate, his daughter, but I believe up until he boarded the Ajira plane Sawyer didn't really know what he would do next, and mostly felt alone with his grief, even if he slowly came back close to the group.

I picked a song with pretty straighforward lyrics - I think it fits Sawyer/Juliet really nicely. The first part I highlighted above would represent Sawyer's POV, the second - Juliet's, and the last four lines well apply to both of them and the traits of equality, mutual support and commitment in their relationship.

The first time he saw her smile like that was their night conversation at the dock, after he had made a fool of himself begging her to wait on the island a little more - masking the need and nervousness behind scraps of rational arguments, the usual nicknames and some humour to disguise the plea. The moment she said she would stay, he just couldn't hold back the relief and satisfaction from surfacing on his face, and she replied with a quick smile he wouldn't forget. A smile that showed her teeth, made her look younger and vulnerable, open and lively, and was different from anything she had been willing to give away in front of him before. He would see it again, see a lot more of her warmth and playfulness. But that was the first time nothing stood between his mind and the thought of how beautiful she looked.
