clara goes to church
I went to church today!
It was some Presbyterian church that our friend goes to. I thought it might be better than Catholic Mass...not necessarily. It was so funny. It was like a throw back to some 90's New Age nightmare. Total Pentacostal type deal, people being so moved by the Holy Spirit that others had to catch them before they hit the ground, and oh the crying and one-hand-on-the-heart-the-other-in-the-air-with-eyes-closed-and-head-shaking. C'etait au moin amusant. Just exactly the opposite of what I go to church for. I appreciate their enthusiasm, but I guess I'm not a fan of making a scene out of religious experiences. I tend to start zoning when I see the hand-held microphones, keyboards on the 'electric organ' setting, and projector screen with lyrics to Christian rock songs, but it was really nice to go to some kind of church at least once while I'm here.
