Bob is gone - again

A terrible event has occurred. Yesterday a Royal Mail delivery man delivered a bike part for Drew. Because Drew took a minute to get down the stairs, he started pushing at the cat flap to try and get the parcel through.

Drew saw the pushing but didn't realised he had turned the lever on our in/out cat flap so that instead of Bob being unable to get out as usual, he could get out but not back in again. We only realised this morning when I woke not to the normal 6am sound of Bob miaowing in my face but to a persistent scraping noise from the front door. At first I thought it was somebody trying to put something through the letter box, but it must have been Bob desperately trying to get back in.

So poor Bob is outside in the snow and ice :( I noticed a chicken bone in the front garden which he probably had a nibble on. Knowing his shyness he'll hide away during the day, but just hope he's brave enough to come out at night and have another go getting through. He is a nice plump cat (6kg at his last weigh-in), and he only has the three feet to keep warm, but still he must be freezing.

It's such a frustrating turn of events. If that stupid delivery guy hadn't fiddled with the cat flap, he could be here cuddled up with me now.

Come back Bob!

Is everyone ready for Christmas? It's just going to be me and Drew, so it will be fun. We'll probably open the presents, have some booze and snacks, go for a walk and come back to eat our guinea fowl/turkey roast. As we don't have a car I've been gradually gathering the food through the icy streets this week. There are certain foods Drew insists on: extra stuffing, bread sauce; and some only I will be eating: Christmas pudding, cranberry sauce, toasted brioche with bananas, blueberries & maple syrup for breakfast. Others we both agree on - roast potatoes, parsnips, sprouts with bacon, cava, bucks fizz. It's all about the savouries.
