Spent some times in stormy weather, under clouds of my dilemma

On Tuesday I took Drew to see Charlie Brooker film You have Been Watching at the BBC television centre in White City. We must have been quite far ahead in the queue, as 20 and 21 was written on our wrist bands and we ended up only two rows back from the front!

Was pleased that Josie Long, probably my favourite female comedian, was on, along with Rufus Hound and Armando Iannucci. They were filming the last episode in the series, to be shown on Thursday 3rd June. So watch it in case you see the back of our heads!

It was a good episode focusing on crime and detective TV, starting with a look at Angela Lansbury, in 'Murder, She Wrote' of course. But did you know that Angela subsequently released a health and wellbeing video featuring soft focus shots of her scrubbing herself in a soapy bath? Charlie got told off for a joke about 'You know she had to finger someone every epsiode', so I'm not sure if that will make the final cut.

There was also plenty of mocking of American crime TV, including those real life police shows. In the US, police take criminals down by shouting "Stop or I'll shoot you in the back", or, if they're lucky, by firing bean bags and tear gas at them. Whereas Charlie then showed a clip of a British policeman asking a suspect if he'd visited a local fair before, as it was a very good one. Bless.

During a couple of short breaks the men had powder put over their faces and Josie got her lipstick reapplied. I think it took them about three hours to film the whole thing, and by the end my bum was getting twitchy. It was fun though.

It was my birthday on Thursday, I turned 28. Drew got me a very nice new watch with wooden circles in it, and my parents got me my first food processor. These gifts helped numb the pain of being even further into my late twenties, arrrrggh. It is nice to be able to tell the time without having to look at my phone, and the processor has come in handy for making strawberry icecream milkshakes in this unusual hot weather. The next plan is to make my own pesto and a raspberry smoothie.
