What if
right now
this instant
a brand new volcano
erupted from out of the sea
and spilled its flow of lava
over us.

Imagine
how the tourists
would gawk and stare
and mumble their discomfort
a thousand years from now
after the archeologists
had found us petrified
in our final embrace.

Some would say
how shocking
and some might say
how sad 
and you and I
in our case of stone
beyond the limits of all flesh
would go on making love
forever
and for ever
and for
ever.
