V for Vendetta

Went to see it last night with Rich,
clearbright, and my baby carrying a baby
so_yun. Not bad. I had very little expectation going in and I have to admit I was thoroughly entertained throughout. It was very political and had an anti-American sentiment. Apparently it was adapted from a DC comic book. Natalie Portman was good, not a spectacular performance but she did a good job. We all had dinner at Fuddrucker’s afterwards.

Came home and watched this show called What About Brian. It stars that guy from Seventh Heaven. Again I have to say it was pretty good. I will definitely add it to my TIVO (DVR) list. But I don’t feel like it has the potential to develop into a series. It’s so hard these days for new shows to make it because the network pulls them so fast. They don’t give them time to build an audience or to develop. Everybody knows that shows need a season or two to fall into their comfort zone. Back in the days they would allow struggling shows to stay on the air for several seasons to develop and build that fan base. Take Cheers for example. That show had the lowest ratings in it’s first several seasons, but the head honchos at NBC left it on, and it developed into what I would say as one of the top 5 sitcoms of all time. Cheers really began to take off when NBC placed it right after The Cosby Show and Family Ties (trifecta) and it soon became the number one show in America. That began NBC’s Thursday night primetime block which Friend’s eventually transitioned into. (Sorry for the long tangent, just a bit of TV trivia for all you fellow junkies)
