[The flood of information, curious people, answerless questions, added volumes to the headache she already had thudding under her temples. She slipped out of her room, eased along the hall until she found a door out on deck, and staggered over to lean against the rail.
The steady rush of water underneath the ship at least calmed her nerves. This was way too B-Movie Scifi for her--though even that, the sense of borderline ridiculous danger, felt somehow familiar.]
...I watch bad scifi films. And James Bond movies. [She said it out loud as though the declaration would somehow trigger her. It didn't. She slumped against the rail and traced the lines of foam drowning in the shadow of the ship, looked out at the line of black-on-black where the stars ended.
The chilly night helped her headache, too.
She heaved, gripped the rail, and fought down the taste of bile.]
