So I don't know if anyone actually reads my journal any more, seeing as I never post, but here I am anyway!
Big news is I've had the baby! Due date is actually today but she arrived on Friday 13th April at 4:37am, and weighed a very healthy 6lb 11oz.
It wasn't the easiest labour and birth.. basically I got pre-eclampsia (a potentially fatal pregnancy disease thing for mother and baby) and it caused an abruption - another very serious condition when the placenta comes away from the uterus. So they had to induce labour early, and bloody hell it was painful. Being induced makes the contractions much more painful apparently, so I'm quite proud that I held out for 10 hours before having an epidural.
Not very happy about the way I gave birth, it felt like everything was fake, I was on a drip for seven hours and my waters still hadn't broken so they had to break them for me (again, OWW.) and then once I'd started pushing, baby got tired so they had to get her out with a mini ventouse thing (like forceps kind of). And then afterwards I had to go into the operating theatre because I was losing a lot of blood and they couldn't repair me in the room.
And then we had to stay in hospital for another week because she lost 10% of her body weight and got jaundiced. But I'm happy to say that after a two week stint in hospital we are both home and well now. And she's totally gorgeous! Putting on weight nicely, she's now 6lb 10oz, so pretty much back at her birth weight.
She's called Sophie, by the way :)
