Waiting for Rinoa when she got back from class was a bouquet of a dozen white roses in a beautiful crystal vase.
The note was written in a hand that managed to be at the same time both stiff and lazy. The handwriting said to the world "I don't care enough to write prettily, but if I'm going to write anything, it would be stupid to write something that wasn't clearly legible." The actual writing itself said:
Dear Rinoa,
I am sorry I hurt your feelings. I didn't think I was insulting you, and I'm sorry that you took it that way. I love you. I care about you more than I have ever cared about anyone, even myself. You are beautiful, and smart, and funny, and spontaneous, and cute, and fun to be around, and gorgeous, and the most special person I've ever met. I'm really, really sorry that I hurt you. I'm not very good at not being rude to people, but I'm trying to get better.
Love,
Squall
