Scrabble & DC

Thanks for all your lovely well wishes, folks...

Cut to the chase:  I came in 6th in my division, and won $70.

I also won the contest for Best Spring Word -- my word was PRIMROSES.   It won some scrabble tiles and a book about scrabble.

I got to play a couple of nice words, including BADINAGE.

On the sad side, I lost a game because I didn't challenge STOAGIES.  I think I was thinking of HOAGIES which is valid.    Or maybe Hoagy Carmichael -- a piano player who only you old-timey people will remember.

And also on the said side, I did challenge UNBALES.   I turned out to me good, so I lost my turn.  UNBALES.    What's up with that?  Scarlet looks on as the slave unbales the cotton?

Back to the happy:   The government seems to be opened for business tomorrow -- so my 14 y/o son will have attractions to see.  Of course,  he's in a huge fight with all the girls in his class because the girls were in a huge fight about who would room together and he interfered and told them to be nice to the girl who nobody wanted to room with.

I wouldn't be 14 years old again if you gave me all the tea in china.

Thanks to everybody who offered Plan-B's for DC -- I put the list together and gave it the chaperones.  They were delighted and might use some of them anyway.   Also, of course, the government still might close down mid-week, I hear....
