Friday Night Hate!
I HATE HAVING THE HICCUPS. I don't now, but I did earlier. It sucks. One of the most obnoxious feelings ever.
I also hate being interrupted when I'm talking. CONSTANTLY. Of course, I've got little room to speak, I do interrupt people here and there. I try not to, though.
I also hate when people tell me I look like I've gained weight. I'm pretty well aware of that, thanks. Great. I'm trying to LOSE weight, for fuck's sake. Really, unless you're really close to someone and know whether or not weight is okay to bring up, don't bring it up.
I do hate fangirls (and some fanboys, but it mainly seems to be fangirls) who pair up everyone and everything just because "it's hot" or "it's ~wacky~ and unusual". As an extension, I hate the whole hype about vampires (even pre-Twilight) and werewolves.
I hate fanfics where the author inserts their notes during the course of the story. I don't care what you think about your own writing, I want to just read a fucking story. Can you let me do that, asshole? I also hate fanfics where "[x] goes to high school!" and those "random insanity lol zany humor is funny" things where they just write whatever, load it with in-jokes, make people scream in all caps, and jabber in cutesy/retarded-speak (i.e., "NOT MY PWECIOUS COOKIIIIIIIEEEEESSSSSSSS! NOOOOOOOOO!"). or those author's note "skits" where they interact with their friends or story characters or whatever. It isn't cute or intriguing. Cut it out.
Oh, and "if you don't like it, don't read it!" How the fuck are we going to know whether or not we like it unless we read it? Not to mention, "I suck at titles/summaries so just read". Well, if you're not articulate enough to be able to describe your own damn story, what makes you think I'm going to think your writing is any better?
More fanfic hate: "Read and review and if I get [x] reviews I'll write some more. And no flames! Be nice!" So... you write just to get your ass licked about how great you want people to think you are, you set quotas, and you think you're so inherently great that people will surely want more of whatever you're peddling! Shut up. On the flipside, I also hate busting my ass writing something and not getting any feedback - good or bad - for it. If I get criticized, it's never in a way of how I can improve it (somethin I really strive to do), but just how it sucks. Well, okay, but it'd help to know how I can improve my writing.
I suppose that sounds a tad hypocritical of me. Hmm...
Fandom wars! Fandom wars are stupid, and they happen in every fandom, and it annoys me senseless. Try reading anything written by fans of "diva" singers, for example. Fucking obnoxious, and they seem to be keen on putting other artists down just to make theirs look better, and they do it unprovoked. How pointless.
Oh, and hatred/shunning of something because of an annoying fanbase. If I did that, I wouldn't listen to any music, I wouldn't play any video games, I wouldn't read Harry Potter, nor would I watch any T.V.
I hate writer's block! It sucks!
I hate the paranoia over unpronounceable ingredients in foods. If you can't pronounce it, it's automatically bad! If it has a long name, fuck no! Sounds a bit stupid.
I hate when I'm doing the damn speed limit or 5 over, and someone's on my ass, honking, and speeds past me. Even in the slow lane! Excuse me for not wanting to risk speeding and being pulled over. I like my ticket-free record, thanks. You don't own the road, asshole, I'm just trying to obey the speed limit (or the accepted "over" limit).
I also hate... my really bad memory. There were so many other things I wanted to list, but I forgot what they were. Perhaps I just need to write things down as they come to mind for future HateFests.
