Ferrell, Heder Get Glory
Pair of thesps set for ice skating comedy.
by IGN FilmForce
November 17, 2005 - Will Ferrell and Napoleon Dynamite star Jon Heder are in talks to appear in a new comedy called Blades of Glory, set in the world of competitive ice skating.
The DreamWorks-based project centers around a group of world-class men's figure skaters who, as Variety says, are "banned from the sport after their disgraceful brawl during the Winter Games in Salt Lake City. After three years of toiling in obscurity, they attempt to put aside their feud and exploit a loophole in the terms of their suspension, partnering to compete in the only category open to them -- pairs figure skating."
The two thesps would star opposite Will Arnett (Arrested Development) and Amy Poehler (Saturday Night Live), real life husband and wife, as their skating rivals.
Commercials veterans Josh Gordon and Will Speck will direct the film. Ben Stiller is producing.

you know, i wanna put ferrell in my movie about the battle of hastings. i had the idea for a movie trailer that would be led zeppelin's immigrant song (download it to see what i mean) playing over helicopter shots of snowy british country and then as plant starts screaming, a super slo-mo shot of a norman cavalier with his spear out riding down on a saxon housecaryl (sp?) winding up big with a five foot danish bearded axe, a lot of screaming and about to kill each other. battle of hastings was when william the conqueror and the normans fought harold I and his saxons for control of briton in 1066, effectively deciding the course of western civilization. i want to make to show that we can have non-pompous, american-accented, lively, entertaining period movies. itd basically be decaps and manly men being resolved for 2 and a half hours. but if you watch the sketch on best of will ferrell 2 where he plays the angry boss, there's a part where his face is dripping blood and sweat, just pouring, and he looks frigging scary awesome. his eyes are good for comedy for the same reason they're good for playing a veteran saxon berserker with long hair and a huge beard. yeah tangent.
