Background (AU!Canon; HP): Fuuma Monou was a serious young man who lived and worked in the Shinto shrine his family owned in Wales. He was quiet and cared for his sickly younger sister after his mother died. His best friend was a boy who lived next door, Kamui, but he moved away right before Fuuma got his acceptance to Hogwarts. Fuuma stayed the same the first two years of Hogwarts: polite, kind, a perfectly pleasant young man who never lost House points. He seemed prefect, and eventually Head Boy, material. However, during the summer between second and third year, Kamui returned and he suddenly exploded.
Fuuma, it turned out, had always been hiding his true self and Kamui's reappearance had forced it out. The boy had changed, becoming aloof and avoiding Fuuma, and that in turn allowed Fuuma to be himself. He started getting into huge fights with his father over things like his staying out late, the sudden lack of respect, his uncharacteristic lack of care for his sister. After a massive fight with his father and sister (it ended with him pinning Kotori to the wall, threatening to kill her), he packed a bag and left the house forever, moving to Ireland alone.
At Hogwarts, his personality change manifested in a new sense of style and carriage; he suddenly became more talkative and the school's biggest flirt. His grades stayed level but he was suddenly getting into trouble for talking back in classes, being caught in strange corridors after hours, various misdeeds that weren't too bad but were out of character for younger Fuuma. Rumors abounded of his sudden sexual experiences, the reason he suddenly moved to Ireland, why exactly he started wearing those yellow-colored glasses. He was still perfectly polite, but now he was unsettling, dangerous.
Fuuma knows enough to not act up too much in Hogwarts, under Dumbledore's watchful eye, but on his breaks he spends the time in Muggle Dublin, indulging in all the things a typical troubled youth indulges in: drugs, sex, vandalism, violence. This isn't to say he doesn't love or get close to people; he doesn't anymore, but there was something about Kamui's return and (rumored) subsequent rejection of Fuuma that made the boy snap.
Addendum to character's AU background: Fuuma spent most of his life looking after his sickly younger sister after his mother died. Forced to essentially raise her from the age of 8 (his father was a loving man, but busy caring for the temple most of the time), he was placed under pressure to be the best role model he could be for her. His mother died from medical malpractice; between the spells and the potions she was taking in the hospital, her body became bloated and eventually exploded. Fuuma, in his childish curiosity, when he heard the noise coming from his mother's room, ran to go see what was going on. He was pushed back from seeing everything, and he's repressed most of the memories, but he still dreams of a room covered in blood. He never really got a chance to mourn his mother's death, immediately having to make sure that Kotori was dealing with it well. He worked so hard to push down all the rebellious feelings he felt to not be a nuisance to his dad, but Kamui's complete avoidance of him pushed him over the edge. The dreams about his mother's death became more frequent after his falling out with Kamui, and he decided he couldn't take being the good boy he had forced himself into being anymore.
