[ THE CUPID COMPANY ]

Feb 09, 2011 18:21

[ on the second ring, an answering machine picks up, and a female voice plays ]

"You have reached the Cupid Company, where we send your love even when you can't! If you wish to place an order for one of our electronic messengers, please fill in the form you will receive shortly. If you wish to record a personalized message, please dial the number at the bottom of the form. Thank you, and have a nice day!"

[ beep, and a few minutes later, you receive the following message on your NV: ]

SENDER: NAME () or 'Anonymous'
RECIPIENT: NAME ()
MESSAGE: Written (to be read electronically), recorded voice, or recorded hologram.
[OPTIONAL] SONG TO BE PLAYED:
[OOC] GLITCH?: Yes/No

[ ooc: The Cupid Company is essentially an experiment in robotic singing telegrams: they look like kewpie dolls (the picture above) dressed up as cupids, with a hidden speaker set in their bodies. Rather awkwardly protruding from their backs are the propellers that allow them flight, making them resemble half-naked baby-shaped helicopters.

On Valentines's Day, the 'cupids' will barrel their way to wherever their recipient is (OOCly, I'll just drop an action thread in their IC contact), subjecting them to a message from their 'loved one' and a shower of heart-shaped confetti (and in some cases, rather tinny renditions of love songs or a holographic projection).

However, the cupids aren't perfectly made, so there's also occasionally the chance for them to glitch... by, say, regurgitating the message that was intended for someone else instead. If you don't mind your message not going to its intended recipient, indicate it on the form; I'll randomize the messages of everyone who's chosen the 'glitched' option to decide where the messed up messages are going. (Alternatively, if you still want it to go to the recipient but still glitch some other way-- like explode in a mess of glitter, or accidentally start singing 'You Touch my Tralala' instead of 'I Will Love You'-- note it in the glitch section too. Try to keep them basically harmless!)

Comments are screened so the Valentines can be a ~surprise~ (like Valentinr). I'll unscreen them once all the 'cupids' have been sent out, so you can find out who was sending what. :| If you have any questions, just ping me with a PM.

TL;DR: Send your loved ones a freaky robotic valentine, that also has a small chance of exploding in a hot mess all over their desk! ♥ ]
