separated in this world of illusion (rp for effiecat)

Bendytime to Monday morning.

"You're sure she's all right?"

"You have my word."

Channing sniffed testily, eyes riveted to the stage where the chorus was rehearsing as Mike Kellar worked on the samurai statue for one of her routines. "I hardly trust it. You're not just a god, you're a fickle one."

"You know nothing about me."

Turning to face the man at her side, Channing hardly recognized Tommy Karras as he was now. Even with the contacts he was wearing to hide his devil red eyes, he didn't have the same look or the same energy. He was too commanding, too overwhelming...there was no trace of Tommy, and even less of Harry in him to be comforting.

"I know everything Bess knew." she hissed at the entity identifying itself primarily as Epimetheus while wearing Tommy's skin. "And you did this to her, too. The people who know Tommy best won't be fooled by this charade, and I know him better than anyone."

Epimetheus sniffed, turning his gaze cooly to the stage again. "Every day, I am learning how to be more like him. I will remain myself, but given enough time you will forget that he is sleeping. In the meantime, I will care for our daughter. Children are aware of the nature of things...she knows me for who I am."

Huffing impatiently, Channing turned back to the stage and let her thoughts return to the act again. Despite Tommy's recent collapse and the appearance of Epimetheus, rehearsals weren't suffering. He moved exactly as Tommy did, but robbed him of the subtlety that had appealed to her in Tommy's performance. The new dancer she'd hired that morning was fitting into the chorus well, and then she had the audition from Los Angeles...

"Yo, Chan! Think your newbie's here!"

Blinking, Channing gave Mike her full attention. "Sorry?"

"Security's dealing with a girl out front, I can hear him thinking! Stephanie Leighton, something about Julliard..."

"Oh! The Julliard girl!" she replied, remembering. "Be right back, everyone take five! Mike, fix that damn dummy, er...Tommy? Get Jacob to prep the stage for the opening, I want to run through the intro of the show and then try the ballroom routine with this girl."

As her staff moved to obey, Channing made her way through The Rapture Theater and ventured into the main hallway, finding a security guard next to the box office with a petite blonde seeking admission into the theater. Channing didn't need to work hard to sense her energy: she was deflated, but hopeful for a fresh start.

"Ziggy? Is this my new audition?" she asked cordially.

"Oh...yeah, Miss Vale, was just gonna call you. Stephanie Leighton?"

"My Julliard girl...yes, of course." she replied, turning to the blonde with a smile as she offered her hand. "Welcome to Las Vegas, my dear...I do hope you got in without any trouble?"
