People of the Book (Geraldine Brooks) 10/10 Fiction/Mystery?/Notquitefantasy
The centuries-old haggadah Dr. Hanna Heath has been called in to conserve is the greatest mystery she's ever faced. The haggadah is full of the tiniest of clues, each a piece of the book's amazing and, until now, untold history. Hanna might be unaware of the stories behind the owners of the richly illustrated holy book, but Geraldine Brooks knows, and now so do we. Follow the book as it is saved from the Inquisition, hidden from Nazis, passes hands, is made, and in the present time, stolen.

Okay, so my description is totally wack and doesn't do the story justice. This was a great book! Not just for the story itself, or the characters (all of which I loved), but for Brooks' writing style. It's CLEAR how she won a Pulitzer for one of her other novels. Man. Maaaaaan. She's on my top list now, for sure. I heartily recommend this book to...everyone! Especially if you love books ~
