As an outsider, I got to see the big picture from a different perspective than anyone involved. Let me just say, it was the most beautiful disply of poetic justice I have ever whitnessed.
Oronde may have been the spark that set the fire, but the house had been condemed from the very start. There was not a single rat that did not try to claw and chew their way through their "friends" inorder to escape the fire. First Chew bailed with out finding another roommate to take his place. Pika followed shortly after, leaving the rest to cover their parts of the rent. Bobby and Luke had their own secert plan of escape, and I don't think anyone ever stoped to consider the butterfly effect of their actions.
It may seem like Brad and Shelly were the innocent victems, but they had their own serect scams to take advantage of the rest. Including me who was never involved. They knew I would pay for Pika's invoice and tried to profit by charging double for the items listed. (by the way Pika, it was well worth the $$$ I spent collecting the items just to see there reaction.) Perhaps they got what they deserved. I often wonder how much longer Shelly would have gotten away with charging extra for rent, in order to pay her tuition if thoes events hadn't taken place when they did.
People panic understress and don't often stop to think about how their actions are going to effect people in the end. They arn't "bad" or "evil", self preservation is natural instince for all of us. I hear a lot of "A real friend would never..." but in return, would a real friend expect or dare to ask for that person to disregard their own needs and put you first? Sounds selfish, but its something we are all guilty of.
