I can barely type through the tears...this hits so close to home in so many ways. My dad died an alcoholic, my mom is slowly fading from old age and never addressed depression...and I fight my demons as well. Thankfully, I have good friends....and Sherlock and John have each other. Sometimes, a hug is all there is.

What a wonderful modern take on the locking up the cheque book, as well as Mummy Holmes and her issues...
I really like that the best comfort John can offer is also a means of handling his demons.

Thanks so much. I'm glad you liked this, and the fact that it wasn't just John helping Sherlock that came across. Sherlock is there for John, too.

you have written/shared some truly stellar things since you hit this fandom and once again you really deliver. kudos for the story concept that follows logical pathways inferred/inspired by both acd and bbc canon; one that tackles issues of not just vice but also those things that so often lie at the heart of those issues. and that you looped that back through a story dealing with loss through suicide all the while showing caring and offering hope to both and didn't make it feel forced or saccharinely sweet? well, that wasn't just well done. that was/is brilliant. completely brilliant.

could quote lines at you here and will if desired but for now will now go find more tissue. seems i may have used the last at hand.

Aw, no tears.

Thanks so much for the compliments. I am always so cheered by your comments. I'm glad my work pleases you, and that this one in particular hit the right note. It could have gone really badly, but I am pretty happy with the results.

Thanks again, friend.
