Advice for using up stale bread?

Okay, I had a bunch of people over the other day and now have, among other things, an entire loaf of French bread that wasn't used.  It's gone rather stale, alas - i sort of forgot about it or I'd have made French toast or something the next day.

Anyway, I'd like to make SOMETHING out of it, rather than just tossing it.  So does anyone have suggestions for something I could crock, preferably savory rather than sweet and dessert-ish.  I've got some ground beef and some uncooked chicken breasts, as well as some cooked chicken, any of which could be used along with it.  I was thinking maybe some kind of strata or casserole?
