Converting Recipe Tips

I found this in a crockpot cookbook & thought it might be useful :)

How to convert normal recipes to crockpot recipes

* Make sure the root vegetables are put at the bottom of the crockpot, then add the other vegetables, then the meat.
* A rule of thumb: beef, lamb, & pork dishes cook for 6 - 8 hours, chicken & vegetarian dishes cook for 4 - 6 hours.
* Or go by the original cooking time - 15 - 30 minutes = 4 - 6 hours, 35 - 45 minutes = 6 - 8 hours, 50 + = 8 - 10 hours
* Reduce the liquid by about 50%. If there's too much liquid at the end of the cooking time, put it in a saucepan & boil until it reduces to the desired amount
* Long cooking fades the flavour of herbs & spices, especially fresh herbs. Add an extra sprinkle at the end of the cooking time
* Always add dairy products at the end of the cooking time so it doesn't curdle
