I have a recipe I'm trying to put together for the slow cooker, the biggest question is do I HAVE TO brown the sausage first or not(it's local veal sausage and always good no matter what I do so don't think I need the browning for taste). Seems simple but for all I use the crock pot I don't often use it for meat dishes so never sure on the raw vs. cooking first - which to me seems to defeat the purpose of easy cooking(unless it is for taste).
If I just put the sausage in with the veggies/other ingredients and let it cook then do I extend the time or just go until the sausage is done...I'm all for experimenting but don't want to waste the ingredients. Any thoughts?
