Cook Times When Halving a Recipe

Stupid question, but I haven't been cooking with my crock too long so there ya go...

I found a recipe for baked potato soup and really want to try it. Seeing in the directions of the recipe that the person had a 6 quart crock and since mine is smaller, I figured I would just half the recipe and call it a day.

However I'm uncertain about the cook time since it's potatoes and they do tend to take forever. Plus in the last thirty minutes you're suppose to add cream cheese, otherwise I just would have kept an eye on things and call it done once the potatoes were tender.

The original recipe called for a cook time of Low for 8 hours, or High for 4.

If I'm halving the recipe do I need to reduce the cook time to Low 4 hours or High for 2? Should I not change a thing? What would you suggest?
