Family party (engagement party for a cousin on hubby's side) was as expected -- lots of people I don't know, not much for kids to do. Mother-in-law is fussing over the bride-to-be's religion, though in all other respects she seems great. Party was at an inn out in the countryside, where we petted a chicken and fed it crackers. It was probably the highlight of the afternoon. Concerted effort at handwashing to avoid salmonella.
On the ride there, older progeny made up a cute song about morning time. Younger progeny made up own song in response. We came home and hubby helped them record the songs on the computer, for later burning onto CD (again, originally older's idea). Hubby showed off new software from work to his dad. I fell asleep after the party ordeal :-) .
I'm in the midst of the 2nd Thursday Next novel, which hubby thinks is silly but I find extremely entertaining. I especially enjoy the goofy character names. "Braxton Hicks" is one of my favorites.
Looking forward to a bit of peace and quiet when kids go off to camp tomorrow. Older progeny was sick Fri., so I had a kid at home all day. Probably I'll work on updating my resume.
