As I'm approaching what my mother calls a "millstone" birthday, I am now the proud owner of a new laptop (!!!) from my parents. I got the cheap model from Dell. It's already crashed a couple of times.
Nonetheless, I'm delighted to have a new toy. I wonder how long until the kidlets decide it's their toy too.
Prospect of a trip to London (at the end of Aug.) is more worrisome by the day. But at the moment we're still planning to go. I figure that statistically it's more likely I'll be in an airplane crash than in a terrorist bombing. Probably even more likely, a car crash on the way to the airport. Not to be pessimistic or anything. Actually I'm quite looking forward to it when I'm not fussing and worrying.
Finished reading _Empire Falls_ by Richard Russo, which I highly recommend. He does some really wicked character sketches of self-centered people.
