my non-school life

I feel like all I ever post about is my student teaching. So I'm going to talk about something else tonight. I spent all weekend with Chris, and it was really enjoyable. We ended up staying in most of the time because we're trying not to spend money. In fact, the only places we went all weekend were Target and church this morning. Do you have any ideas for things to do that are free?

Last week I went over to our weight room and checked out the equipment. There's no stationary bike, which is what I really wanted, so I had to settle for a treadmill. I wonder how much exercise you can actually get walking fast on a treadmill for a half hour. That's what I did. I suppose that it's better than no activity. I also planned my meals for this week, This is what I'm having:

Monday- Baked Spagetti with Garlic bread and salad
Tuesday-Mustard Chicken with a baked potato and veggies
Wednesday - Shrimp and Broccoli with White rice
Thursday - Chicken burritos
Friday - Honey and Mustard Fish with Potatoes and Veggies

Most of the recipies are easy and came from my "1,000 Lowfat Recipies" book. I hope they're good because the Tuna Casserole last week just didn't work out. For breakfast I always have cereal and for lunch I have leftovers from the dinners.

I started reading a new book this past week also, "Interpreter of Maladies" by Jhumpa Lahiri. It's been sad so far - The first story was about this couple that lost their baby and how their marriage was suffering. The second story was about a man whose daughters and wife were left behind in war-torn Bangledesh. They're written so beautifully, it's incredible. She won the Pulitzer for this book. It feels nice to be reading something more grown-up before I go to bed....
