Welcome to the Whaleverse!
In spring of 2008, naye and friendshipper had a cunning plan.
"Let's write a story for sgabigbang," they said.
But the minimum word count was 40,000 words, and they were afraid.
"So let's write one story, together, so each of us only has to write 20,000 words," they plotted. "20,000 words in three months -- that should be easy!"
And then the story laughed at them. A lot. And grew, and sprawled, and spawned art and side stories, and eventually became A Clear and Different Light, the 88,000-word chronicle of the Whaleverse: where Rodney talks to whales, John is a faery mage, Ronon has wings, Teyla studies runes and the Wraith are really, truly scary. (No, really! They are!)
After the story was posted, we were left with an assortment of fanart, side stories and doodles created by ourselves and our betas, xparrot and gnine, as well as gorgeous illustrations created for the Big Bang community by bellewhan and cynicatlantis. We decided to create this comm to give the Whaleverse fanworks a place to live. Anyone is welcome to create and post their own art, stories, or anything else (vids, reviews, discussion, etc) -- in fact, we would be delighted to see others play in our sandbox!
