You're in the City. And that worthless device just happens to be the most important thing you'll own here.

[Staring pointedly at the device. There's a voice coming from it. Truly, mankind has gone too far with magitechnology.]

Important? How detestable. Have humans come to rely so heavily on this wicked technology? Have I been away so long that this is he result of my absence? How unfortunate that I was unable to complete my mission to prevent such an atrocious future. It is as I thought.

...Wicked? Not sure what you're talking about. Everyone uses these things.

And there in lies the problem. Mankind is too foolish, too reliant on technology. I shouldn't be surprised that it has come to this.

Didn't know there was a problem with having technology- especially when it's more helpful than harmful.

Technology is a bane to existence, human. You would do well to learn that. I have watched your kind for years - time and again you use technology to destroy all that is important.

...And how exactly is that?

The desire for technology stems from a desire to simply become better than another, to use it to assert dominance over another person, another city, another country. That technology is used to create weapons that are destroy. Technology will lay the world to waste.

That's a pretty big conclusion to leap to.

I've witnessed such a result before. And history has written it time and again as well. It is not a conclusion that I have leaped to, as you say.

Huh, you come from a pretty strange world, then. Technology helped save lives back where I live.

If there is evil in this world, it lies in the hearts of man. Any good intentions your kind may have had for technology will be pointless when they strive for more than what they need be satisfied with. It will cause an imbalance in the world. It always has. It always will.

Then what do you suppose mankind does? Technology's pretty important in everyday living. Even in this City.

Worlds can exist without technology. It's not hard. Your kind simply doesn't care to try. They feel the need to constantly seek dangerous knowledge because they can't be satisfied with what they already have. It's their instinct, I have seen it enough to know. And such a selfish instinct it is.

Is it selfish if it's for the good of mankind?
