[Poly Entry 32:] Reminiscing

Aug 24, 2011 17:44

[voice;]

Yesterday was yet another odd curse. The sudden urge to want to soar the sky was quite distracting.

[Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiighs.]

Ah.. it reminded me of the days when we still had the wing pack. The use of the Rarebirds were rather nice. The feeling of becoming one with the wind. Hmmm~ it was magnificent.

[He lightly chuckled, remembering ( Read more... )

You didn't go jumping off of any buildings, did you?

[More or less her way of asking if he's all right. He doesn't look dead or flattened.]

Not a scratch or a bruise as you can see.

How are things on your end?

I didn't have any weird urges to become "one with the wind", so I wasn't cursed, anyway.

One with the wind, huh? [He lightly chuckled.] Certainly a fitting title for yesterday.

I'm glad to hear. How about in your world though, Rita? Was there such a device that allowed you to soar the skies as well?

No, not really...Nothing beyond the experimentation stage, anyway.

So those wing packs and Rarebirds you were mentioned--they were devices for flying?

Oh? What sort of experiment?

That's right. An inventor in Alvanista presented it to us for easier travel in exchange for finding the means to make it work.

Well, there were a few experiments for creating blastia that could hover, but I don't think they were strong enough to do much at the time. I wasn't really involved in that research, though.

And just what were these means?

I see.. what was your focus?

It was to make a pact with Volt. Its energy source was what was needed in order to operate the device.

Magic. I mean, I have some knowledge about other blastia fields, but magic has always been my specialty.

Volt--is that the spirit of lightning? So you ran these things with the spirit's powers?

Hm. Essentially the process and source of it then.

That's correct. A charge was needed in order to have it function. I now see that it's much like those things of this world. They all run on this "battery".

Yes, and applications, too.

Ah, I've seen those around here. I guess they're useful...Of course, there's never been a shortage of aer or mana, so it's not like storing energy has ever really been an issue for us.

whackaspirit September 2 2011, 08:31:17 UTC
Formulas, was it? Despite the abundance of mana, there was always a need for something to channel and employ it in our case.

That's right. Any energy source needs a way to be harnessed, but our way just happened to be more convenient than anything else.

I see. [He allowed a sigh to pass.] Still, convenience, huh...

Often times its hard to determine how far one should take things for such sake.

...Yeah. This whole "convenience" put our world in a pretty bad state. So I guess when it gets to the point that you're relying on it, then it's gone too far.
