There's darkness. If you look up, the black, endless ceiling is splotched with light, like the canopy of a forest. And then--
A boar, running in circles around you, snorting and grunting and butting your shoulder. Not enough to hurt, but enough to get your attention. When you sit up, the boar starts running, towards a light-filled door that you could've sworn wasn't there before. You take the hint, getting up and walking towards it, and the boar seems suddenly docile, sitting by the door, waiting.
Outside, there's fire. And smoke and ash and the ruins of a once small, quiet, quaint town. Everything would be green if it wasn't now black and red and dead, and as you rush forward, gripped with a sudden terror and despair, you find bodies scattered on the ground, some recognizable, some not.
Finally, with an odd lack of hesitation, you find the body you've been looking for--your father. And a little farther away--your mother.
Dead.
This scene is completely different. A town, the same town as before, but full of life, people milling around, their footsteps kicking up dirt, children running through the crowds, laughing as their mothers shout. Cless stands in the middle of it all, strangely untouched by the vibrant life swirling around him. He holds out his hand, and Mint steps out of the crowd to take it, her gloved fingers slipping into his.
They both smile, and, strangely enough, it begins to snow. The other people have evaporated by now, but the town remains green and warm in spite of the snow gently falling around them. A few flakes land in their hair, their clothes, but the one Cless is concerned with is clinging to Mint's cheek.
So he reaches out to brush it off, oblivious to the fact that he's suddenly missing his gloves, his armor, his sword around his waist, until his bare fingers touch her cheek. Her skin is warm and soft and makes him forget why he'd even reached out in the first place--
