I'm sorry that your interview didn't go well. It's always an awful feeling when that happens. I've fucked up more than one job interview, and I KNOW that I had a really good chance of getting the job at one of them because it was the second interview I fucked up at. It's good that you are doing the follow-up stuff because it shows that you are serious about wanting the position. I have been on more interviews than I can count at this point (there have been spurts when I had been going on 2 or 3 per week on average). Some of them I left having a good feeling about, some I left thinking I had completely screwed it up. I have found that my gut feeling has usually been pretty good about this kind of thing, but not always. I attempted to learn from every single interview I have been on. If you can actually take something away from this interview and learn from your mistake/experience that is a very valuable thing and will make you ten times more prepared the next time. I know that probably doesn't help at all right now, since you really want this position, but that's my advice.

One of the first interviews I went on when I began looking for a design job was for a really neat company. It was perfect in my opinion because it was a small artsy company, the owner was a Buddhist who had graduated from MIT, and the guy who interviewed me was quite attractive (ok that last one is probably not a good reason to want a job). Unfortunately, it was also the second interview that I had been on, which meant that I was not impressive AT ALL, and didn't even get past the first stage. In other words...I know how you feel.
