Jenny had been home now a few hours and after a nap insisted on by both Giles AND Willow, she was feeling clausterphobic and so decided to creep out and go for a walk around the block. Just a walk and nothing more.
Ryanne had escaped the house and was seating on the front steps terrified to go further. She was looking at the blood stains and shaking.
Coming back around the corner with a paper under her arm and a ice tea from the corner store that she was holding against the goose egg on her forehead, Jenny spotted Ryanne and froze. "Honey, what happened to you?"
Ryanne pointed at the cement that held the stains. "I kinda bleed a ton huh?" She stood up and walked to the older Slayer hugging her tight. "I was so scared when you were gone."
Jenny nodded wordlessly, transfixed by the blood as she looked back at the youngster. "I'm sorry honey, it wasn't by MY choice. There's nowhere else I'd rather be then with you and everyone here."
"Kris really did it?" Ryanne asked sadly. "I trusted him. Now I have to beat him up."
Jenny tucked Ryanne's hair behind her ears. "He did, but I dont know why and no you don't. I dont want you anywhere near him. I know you trusted him, but please I rather you didn't. Especially when your healing." Looking at her honestly, Jenny added. "He tried to tap into my gypsy magic while I was unconscious Ryanne."
"He'll pay for that Jenny. Trust me." Ryanne looked up at her with eyes a little more hardened, some of the innocence gone. "I hate men. They are evil."
Jenny shook her head. "Honey, i dont want you to. Once the baby is born and safe, we'll deal with Kristopher but the fact that your dad loves so much is proof that not all are evil."
"Dad isn't a man. He's Dad, and even he can get evil. He doesn't remember hitting me that night." Ryanne started to pace, "Kris won't know it's me. I have ways and friends. He's gonna pay Jenny."
"Honey it was an accident, he didnt even recognize us in the middle of all that." Jenn sat on the steps and watched Ryanne. "No, if you never ever listen to another word or thing I ask of you. Ryanne, I dont want you near there or him."
Ryanne nodded, not really listening. He had hurt Jenny and for that he had to pay. It was the honor of the street and she wasn't giving it up. "Sure, if you say so."
Jenny raised an eyebrow and spoke icily. "Ryanne Giles, I'm serious. I let you get away with more than your father and Willow because I love you. I'd like it if you'd do me this one thing. Stay away from him."
"I said sure Jenny." Ryanne looked at her with hard weary eyes. "And I will love Willow and hug on poophead and all will be right in the fucking world."
Jenny lowered the bottle to show the bruise. "First off, language and secondly Willow is your family now and you need to respect her because Giles loves her. Jason is Jason and I don't know him so therefore, I wont discuss him. Kris is my family and for what he did, is now dead in my eyes. He's not your fight, but mine."
"You are my sister. Which makes you my family. And I may not be a real sister but there are laws that I live by." Ryanne's voice took on the hardened tones of a street kid backed into a corner, "I fake it around Willow to keep Dad happy, but I don't like or trust her. Regardless. She hurt my father."
Feeling a little nauseous, Jenny just let this fight go, making a note to talk to Giles about the whole Willow thing. "Honey, as your sister.. until the baby is born, please just let him go."
"Fine. And after Rupie is out of you Kris is dead." Ryanne looked up at their windows, "Dad says his Dad had a heart attack."
Jenn glanced upwards and brought her hand to her face. "First, we need to find a better nickname for the bump than Rupie and second yes he did."
"Ok is Broomhilda okay?" Ryanne looked at Jenny's tummy and smiled a little. "I still getta babysit?"
"Yes you do, going to be an Aunt Ryanne, and that name is grosser than Rupie."
"I like the name. Ok let's think of a real one. Kit's real name was Kenneth. I name the bump Kit." Ryanne squatted in front of the other girl, "Hey Kit, you doing okay in there. I'm gonna teach ya tons of junk when you get born."
Jenny broke out giggling. "Kitkat the bump." She looked at the other girl and smiled. "As long as he/she/it doesnt end up in jail before it turns one and its first words arent swear words or your nickname for Jason, you can teach to your hearts content."
"Nay, not teaching Kit how to be bad, just get away with junk and how to drive bananas. Someone else has to get in trouble when I'm gone." Ryanne smiled up at her, "So Kit first think I'm gonna teach you is how to toss water balloons on PooPooHead." She giggled, "See I changed the name just for Kit."
"You'll be here a long time and I mean it. Nothing to do with that nickname and I'm pretty sure that between its father and I, the baby already knows about havoc and mischief." Jenny smiled at the other girl. "Lets go inside and get you cleaned up okay?"
"Didn't know I was dirty." Ryanne shrugged, "Willow's in there. Rather be what here, unless you're home."
"I'm referring to your bandages, if your bleeding again, they need to be changed honey." Jenny stood up. "I dont know where your dad and she are at the moment so c'mon we'll get ya done up and we can see bout renting a DVD or something before patrol."
"You're not patrolling tonight Jenny. You need to rest and until my arms are better I ain't either." Ryanne looked at the bandages, "Dad did a healing thingy, cause I was bleeding to much."
Jenny nodded. "Well then lets clean you up and you can tell me about what he did and we'll go do a rental."
Ryanne hugged Jenny again, "Can I stay over at your place tonight?" She looked up wistfully at the window again, "I almost left, this family thing is so hard to do."
"Sure honey." Jenny hugged her back. "Tell me about it."
