It's been a long time
Wow....I didn't realize it's been so long since I've updated....a lot has happened, new year's, internship, grandmother's death....where to begin...
The new years party....it feels like it has been a year since it happened...really not even 2 months wow. I had a phenomenal time, the best new year's I've ever had (not that it had much to compete with, boring days in front of the tv waiting for the ball to drop, lol) When Bethany left, I felt like crying so much, and I did when I woke up the next morning, u don't realize how much u'll miss someone until there gone, whether on a long trip or dead, speaking of which, that brings me to my next topic...
My grandmother died last week....I still cant get over the fact that she's really gone, I bawled my eyes out (I think I've cried more in the last 2 months than I have in my entire life). We knew it would happen, she had been battling cancer for over a year and was getting worse. At least her family was there when it happened (my parents) and she didn't suffer too much (she died in her sleep), but still...it's hard to get over, she was my last living grandparent, but she's in a better place now and finally with her husband after 40 years of separation...(I'm tearing up just thinking about and writing this now)...
Enough sadness, time to write about my internship! This semester I am working with first graders, and my first official day was yesterday! It's amazing how much kids know...every student in my class can read with some ability and they are for the most part well behaved...in math they are learning 2 digit addition which I just find fascinating, I didn't think first graders knew that much, then again it's been a while since I was in first grade myself!I get to teach a minimum of 16 lessons, 4 each in LA, math, SS, and Sci and I am excited! The kids were so happy to see me and they read to me, held my hand, worked with my on their assignments...it was awesome! There was one bad thing tho...the flu is going around my room...5 kids were absent yesterday and unfortunately I think I'm next on the list of the flu's victims (Vitamin C binge here I come!)...hopefully I'll be able to get healthy over the weekend that couldn't come quickly enough...
Not much left to tell...a lot has happened these two months (especially in the past weeks), but I'm working through it and will hopefully be a better person because of it...
