This weekend I mostly played WoW, and it was good. We did catch Doctor Who on the Sunday repeat (there isn’t any other reason for BBC3, is there?)
This episode has received mixed opinions - that of Hoggy (Arse!) and that of the rest of the internets (Ace!). I’m afraid Hoggy will have to rely on Niall coming along to back him up, as I really enjoyed this. It featured a pretty lady in corsetry, comedy robots and much less Mickey than I feared. The mind meld was silly, and was there any reason for the robots having clockwork braaaains other than it looked good? Otherwise I approve, and teared up as I am a sap. Shame the horse through the mirror effect looked so shit, in among many good ones.
My non-fan low expectations of Doctor Who mean I have rather enjoyed this season so far. The first two eps were fairly entertaining but total nonsense (though the werewolf was the best one I have seen in quite some time), and last weeks was fun and handled the back story stuff really well for someone who doesn’t know Sarah Jane is. K9 is still a dumb idea, but he showed Mickey up so that’s alright then.
Veronica Mars S2 has one episode left, and I have no idea how its going to turn out… I’m hoping this is a good sign, it has certainly got better after a shaky first half. We need to catch up on about 4 episodes of 24 S5, but that has been lots of dodgy fun. Sadly none of these things are as straight up enjoyable as Desperate Housewives S2, which we watch from actual telly with
immortalradical. If only all the shows I watch worked as well on their own terms (yes, Battlestar Galactica, I’m looking at you).
Warren Ellis blog says that Deadwood S3 starts in early June, so we need to set aside a couple of weekend for marathon viewings of the first two seasons with Mr H sometime soon. The computer habit getting in the way of the telly habit means we can be quite bad at keeping up with shows we download, so never got very far into Season 2 (despite enjoying what we saw). Setting aside time to watch with Dan, and/or watching real telly (so we have to watch them soon or get confused by where things are taped) mean things do get seen. This is why we are eagerly awaiting Sopranos S6 reaching More4.
More general news:
Weather in Brum is horribly wet. Have trench foot from docs with hole in sole, which I only remember about after I go out in bad weather. I tried my sandals on again yesterday in preparation for wearing them to work in nice summery weather this week *pouts*
